Kiara Kerr

Beginning her dance journey at just three years old, Kiara brings a lifetime of passion, discipline, and artistry to York Dance Academy. She trained at Star Dance Academy in Scarborough, joining their competitive team by age six and developing a strong foundation in ballet, pointe, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, and musical theatre.

Throughout her competitive career across Ontario, she earned numerous awards, including special recognitions for her exceptional emotional connection and unique presence on stage. Her technical training includes years of study in both the BATD and RAD syllabi, completing her RAD Advanced Foundations exam and attending BATD workshops led by industry professionals.

Her love for teaching began early. By twelve, she was assisting ballet and jazz classes, eventually earning her BATD Jazz Associate certification in 2019 and her BATD Ballet Associate certification in 2021. Since then, she has taught recreational and competitive dancers across Scarborough, focusing on creating a supportive environment where students feel safe to grow, explore, and express themselves fully.

Committed to continuous development, she completed the Acrobatic Arts Module 1 certification in 2026 and is currently registered for the Acrobatic Arts Aerial Progressions and AcroFlex workshops. She is also studying the Alixa Flexibility syllabus to ensure her students receive safe, effective, and up‑to‑date training.

Beyond dance, she is passionate about wellness and holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Nutrition from Toronto Metropolitan University, knowledge she brings into her teaching through a dancer‑focused approach.

She is thrilled to be joining the York Dance Academy family this year and looks forward to inspiring the next generation of dancers!
