France Gartner Johnson (ADAPT, RAD, STARS, GILBERT)

France started dancing at the age of 5 receiving her competitive and dance exam training at the Premiere Dance Academy. She is a Graduate of the University of Calgary Dance Degree Program and is the past owner and founder of “Dance with France Studios”, one of Calgary’s #1 dance studios for over 25 years. 

France has choreographed and performed in many TV/movie productions. Her performing experience includes appearing with Billy Ray Cyrus, the movie Dirty Dancing, the Legends Alive! Tours, BMG Country Music Awards, World Police and Fire Games and the 1988 Winter Olympics. Her choreographing experience includes the Radz Roller Hockey Team, halftime entertainment for the Calgary Flames Playoff Games, CBS movie of the week Papa’s Angels, Disney’s Honey I Shrunk the Kidsseries and was the sponsor and choreographer for the Calgary Stampede Outrider Cheerleaders. 

France was awarded First Place from the Calgary Stampede Board for her choreography during the Calgary Stampede Parade and was a popular adjudicator for many dance and fitness competitions. Many of her former students have gone on to professional careers in the dance and entertainment industries. France has a positive outlook and teaching philosophy, and loves working with children of all ages. She is delighted be able to share her passion and her years of experience with the students at York Dance Academy.
