Adam Martino (C.D.T.A Advanced Tap Certificate Honours)
The current artistic director of Breakaway Entertainment & Theatre Jazz faculty member of Millennium Dance Complex Toronto; Adam has been in the entertainment industry for over 25 years. Adam has had the privilege of training with some of the industry’s leading choreographers: Joe Lanteri, Andy Blankenbuehler, Dawn Martino, Sean Frederick, Glenn Gilmour, Linda Garneau and Dana Wilson. He has had the opportunity to perform/work with such artists as Five Seconds Of Summer, Country Artists Meghan Patrick & Augusta Ray, Juno Nominees Peter Katz & Marlowe Stone, UK Music Sensation Gali as well as for such professional companies as Carnival Entertainment, AOL, World Pride Festival 2014, Nuit Blanche, Yuk Yuk’s Comedy Club, Ballet Jorgen, Danceology (Buffalo NY), Fiesta- Spain Show Team (Malaga, Spain), MTV Canada, CTV, CW’s Reign, Montana’s Cookhouse, TFO’s ‘BRBR’ and Niagara’s Fallsview Casino.
Adam has performed at the prestigious Guelph Contemporary Dance Festival directed by David Earl (Founder of the Toronto Dance Theatre). His musical theatre credits include Disney’s Newsies (Romeo/Ensemble, The LOT), Motor City (Dancer/Singer, Carnival Entertainment), Aladdin (Prince Dashing, Middle Eastern Tour), Jungle Book (Monkey, Middle Eastern & Asian Tours), The Brits (Policeman/Dance/Singer, Carnival Entertainment), Legally Blonde, The Musical (Kyle The UPS Guy, The LOT), Joseph… Dreamcoat (Brother Dan, The LOT – 2016 Broadway World Toronto Best Musical Award), Country Road (Josh, Carnival Entertainment), the lead role of Toopy in the Canadian National Tour of the children’s musical Toopy and Binoo ‘Fun and Games’, Portrait Of A Scandal (Duke De Lorraine, High Society Cabaret), White Light Follies (Warren, High Society Cabaret), La Dolce Vita (Ensemble, High Society Cabaret), Dance Captain & Associate Choreographer of Cinderella (Bert, Creativiva Toronto (Canada Day 2017)), Toronto premiere of ‘Laundry List’ (Janitor, Vintage Taps), ’Franklin’ (Bear, Koba Entertainment) and most recently the lead male role in the North American Tour of PinkFong BabyShark Live (Koba Entertainment). Adam has had the opportunity to choreograph for both film and the stage; choreographing TFO BRBR’s Peter Katz Music Video ‘Lay It On Me’, UK Music Sensation Gali’s hit single ‘I’m Alive’, the Dominican Republic’s Royalton & Memories Resorts stage show ‘Styles’, ’12 ’13 & ’14 Toronto Pride Festivals, the hilariously amazing Yuk Yuk’s Comedy Club show ‘Outrageous’ and the ‘All Canadian Basketball Championships’ televised by TSN.
Adam has also served as an associate/assistant choreographer for Bash Fx & Pratibha Art’s production of ‘Global Bollywood’, Creativiva’s Jungle Book Circus (Singapore Tour), The Silent Goodbye (High Society Cabaret), Shiver (Kul Kat/Glenn Gould Theatre), Creativiva’s Cinderella. Over the past year Adam has served as lead choreographer of the sketch comedy dance show entitled ‘You Want It What Way – A Boy Band Tale’ in Toronto and Toronto’s Alumnae Theatre 100th season production of ‘Queen Marie’, ‘PinkFong BabyShark Live’ (Koba Entertainment, North American Tour) and 5 time Broadway World Toronto nominated show Breakaway Entertainment’s ‘Tales Of A Cocktail’.
Most recently he served as the Producer, Creative Director and Choreographer of Breakaway Entertainment’s new hit show ‘Anatomy Of A Dancer – Tribute To The Life Of A Song & Dance Man’ chronicling the life/story of Gene Kelly – Premiering at the 2018 Toronto Fringe Festival playing to sold out audiences and winning the 2018 Broadway World Toronto Award for Best Fringe Musical – A Next Stage Theatre Festival Selection. The former artistic director of the Silhouettes Dance Company and current member of D’Zouk Productions, Bash Fx, Kulkat, Sapphire Dance Productions, Breakaway Entertainment and Interactive Entertainment; Adam consistently produces, directs, choreographs and performs across Canada and Abroad. A regular guest faculty member at the Mayfield Secondary School for the Performing Arts. He currently serves as a faculty member of the Millennium Dance Complex Toronto, City Dance Corps, City Centre Dance as well as for conventions – Captivate: The Dance Movement, B.A.T.D., Breakaway Dance and Star Catchers Dance Convention. Adam is excited to be able to bring his wealth of experience to the students at YDA.
