Leah Schwarzli, Associate Diploma C.C. – C.I.C.B, A.I.S.T.D, TTP Dip (NBS):
Leah Schwarzli discovered her love for dance at the age of three. As a young dancer, she competed extensively with York Dance Academy’s competitive team in ballet and pointe. Although ballet has always been closest to her heart, she also trained in jazz, hip hop, musical theatre, acro, modern, lyrical and highland dancing.
In 2015, Leah graduated from the Teacher’s Training Program at Canada’s National Ballet School. Through her time at The Ballet School, she successfully completed her Cecchetti Advanced 2 Examination, as well as gained her teaching qualifications with Cecchetti Canada and the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing. Leah gained full teaching status with Cecchetti Canada upon completing her Associate Diploma in June 2018.
Leah also gained a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree through the Honours Dance Program at York University. While studying there, she took classes in ballet, contemporary, Graham modern and African dance, as well as, dance composition and choreography courses. In her final year at York University, Leah completed a two hundred page booklet as her Senior Project. This booklet focused on training elements that dancers require when preparing for Cecchetti examinations.
Leah has been teaching and choreographing for recreational and competitive students for the past ten years. She loves working closely with the competitive ballet students at York Dance Academy, as well as, preparing them for their Examinations in the Cecchetti method. Leah currently remains a substitute teacher at Canada’s National Ballet School in the Associates Program and works on the volunteer committee for the Ontario Branch of Cecchetti Canada. She loves sharing her joy of dance with her students and having the privilege of seeing them grow as dancers and as individuals.
