Luz Marina Windmill (CDMA & MCCP)

Luz Marina trained in Jazz, Modern, Ballet, Ethnic, Folk Dance and Gymnastics from an early age in Bogota, Colombia.

She performed with Danzarte, a professional dance company that toured extensively throughout the country. She was also a member of Priscilla Welton Ballet Company for a TV series, a member of the Dancing Crew of a weekly T.V. Musical Show, filmed T.V. Commercials, T.V. Shows and performed with the Contemporary Dance Company, Triknia Kabhelioz. 

She completed her Dance Teacher Training Program at York Dance Academy and continuously upgrades her skills by attending numerous professional teacher training workshops in Acrobatics, Hip-Hop, Lyrical, Ballet and Jazz throughout Ontario.

Luz Marina has extensive experience as a certified coach level II in Women’s Artistic Gymnastics and has also worked as a Gymnastics Choreographer in Colombia, Tumble Tots Gymnastics and Pulsars Gymnastics in Newmarket. She has achieved accreditation in the Pre-School Gymnastics Coaching Program as well.

She has enjoyed being a dance teacher for 16 years in different schools in Colombia and Canada, including Aurora Montessori, La Maison Montessori, Peter Stanton School of Dance, Main Street Dance and Town of Newmarket Recreation and Culture. Luz Marina has been on staff at Y.D.A. in Aurora and Newmarket since 2003 and is currently teaching Jazz, Acro, Ballet, Early Childhood Dance and Latin Jazz.

Luz Marina also graduated with a Bachelor of Education Degree from the La Javeriana University in Bogota-Colombia and went on to specialize in marketing and advertising at El Rosario University, leading her to the position of Marketing and Advertising Director of a multinational company in Bogota.

Luz Marina’s past experiences and skills in both the corporate world and the world of education have moulded her into the creative and passionate dancer teacher she is today!
